CLEAN-UP DRIVE - KABINI

PROJECT GOAL

Removal of plastic waste accumulated in the Kabini backwaters and protect wildlife from toxic and non biodegradable waste.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Small or big, the Members of RCBI always find a way to make a difference! The Kabini river is a major tributary which carries along lots of plastic and other non-biodegradable wastes to the banks during monsoon. These bundles of wastes may be the primitive cause of destruction of wildlife in this otherwise beautiful region.

On the 4th of July, the team at RCBI including Rtr. Akshay, Rtr. Zaid, and Rtr. Shruthi, joined hands with “Friends of Wildlife” and the forest department of Bandipur Tiger Reserve to clean the river banks of Kabini backwaters. Together with a total of 150 volunteers, close to 5,000 kgs of waste was cleared from the river bank. Not just that, the members of RCBI also sponsored 150 N95 masks to the Kabini forest department.
